Roll up, roll up! Come to see a Punch & Judy like none you have seen before.
Ms Judy takes centre stage as she navigates Mr Punch’s shenanigans, police harassment and questions their 360-year relationship. The Devil and their right-hand man, Dorothy, are sure to delight but in the end are thwarted in their mission to bring Mr Punch and Ms Judy to hell leaving everything right beside the seaside. This performance is being presented as part of the Being Human Festival 2024.
Nephew Spike Bone’s Punch & Judy was developed as part of The Judy Project with funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 101020076, the Society for Theatre Research and the University of Exeter’s Public Engagement with Research fund. It is being implemented at the University of Exeter’s Drama Department.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 7–16 November 2024. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
