Description
Art Work Exeter are running three artist-led drop-in workshops at Exeter Custom House during May.
Join them to experiment with hands-on, creative approaches to interpreting the list of goods on the Toll Table of 1829 – currently displayed on the wall of the Surveyor’s Room here at the Exeter Custom House.
Sunday 13th May 11am-3pm – Expect to make small clay models and explore plaster casting objects with artist Volkhardt Mueller.
Saturday 20th May 11am-3pm – Use collaging techniques to create wondrous and subversive pattern-images from found illustrations with artist Stuart Crewes.
Sunday 28th May 11am-4pm – Animate a world of goods in motion as part of the exciting new Heritage Harbour Festival.
No booking necessary, just turn up and join in according to the space available. Workshops will be suitable for anyone 8+ and any children need to be supervised.
What you make will be included in the collaborative exhibition the Legend of the Custom House opening 13 June – 9 July 2023. Read through the full list of objects on the Custom House Toll Table here.
The Legend of the Custom House is part of Art Work Exeter’s cultural partner programme at Exeter Custom House supported by Exeter Canal and Quay Trust, Exeter City Council and Arts Council England – Lottery Fund.
